For this unit we were told to create any production that we wanted for instance, short film, advertisement, documentary etc. The production that I chose with my partner Alberta is to do a News Package. Some of the constraints that we faced was that we both had revision to do for our exams so it was put on hold at times and when we came to create the actual production we had to put all our time and energy into getting the news package done. 

Another constraint that we faced was that we could not come up with a story for our news package that would engage our audience, since we wanted to target a large group of people. We had found that us creating questionnaires for people to fill out about what they would want to see on the news helped for instance we had asked what type of news they would enjoy to watch. For instance sport and entertainment were very popular however more males enjoyed sport and more females enjoyed entertainment therefore we chose to do a news story on something that everyone will watch.

Therefore at the the end of it we had decided to put our news package on the topic of a school girls body found at a construction site next to the school. 
Also we found that it was very difficult for us to find someone to interview during the news package since a lot of people that we thought would be good for this role did not want to be on camera so it took us a long time to find someone that would do it for us. 

The editing process of this production was very easy for us since we had done a news package in the past with our teacher so we we knew what we wanted it to look like and the effects, titles, transitions that we wanted to use that would work for our news package.

This week Alberta and I changed our idea from doing a celebrity feud as our news topic and decided that it would be better to do something that everyone would be interested in. Therefore we thought that the best idea would be to do a story about what has happened in the world. Our new story is about a 13 year old that was kidnapped a fews years ago and her body has just been found buried behind her school by a construction company. We then interview Habon as the headteacher to say what she knows about the story which was that they informed her about the body and that she had called the police right away. After this discussion we then started filming straight away.

This week we have created our pitch that explains exactly what we are going to for our News Package and are going to present this presentation. Also this week me and my partner Alberta created a risk assessment that we need to have so that we ensure that everyone present on the day that we are filming is safe from any risks for example wires that may be needed for the camera and lights. Also this week my partner Alberta and i have created a shooting script that will make our job a lot easier when it comes to the day that we film. Lastly we wrote up a script together just to give us a general idea about what our news package story will be about.

This week me and my partner have been working on the pre production paperwork. We have both discussed what type of production that we wanted to create for our last unit and we decided that we wanted to create a news package because when we made it before we both enjoyed it so it seemed like a good idea to do that again. This week I created blog posts of my props and equipment list that I need for my news package, also i created a post for my cast and crew. We haven't added a blog post for our location since we will be using a green screen so the location that it is taking place is not really important as long as it is quiet for us to film and there are no interruptions.

I have chosen to create a news package for this unit since it was the production that I enjoyed creating the most and I was also very good at it. My idea for the news package is to have my classmate Alberta be a news reporter for a chosen topic and that I will be a field reporter for whenever the studio links to exterior locations. I will also be there interviewing people that the topic that we have chosen concerns. 




Constraints

The constraints that I will face when dong this news package is that I will need to find willing people to interview for the topic that I have chosen. There will be no cost needed to create this production due to the fact that all equipment is given to us for instance cameras, green screen, tripod, and mac computers. Time is also another issue since there is not a lot of time until the deadline and also Alberta and I both have other classes and revision so we would have to spread out our time fairly so that we are able to get this done. 

Audience Research 

The audience for my news package is going to be for genders both male and female because then I would have a wider target audience and have more viewers. I would also aim it at people in the socio-econimic class D-C1. This news package applies to all ethnic backgrounds between the ages of 17 - 24. This is because i will have a better and easier time identifying with this specific age range.  


Primary Research 


Primary research is when people carry out their own research. People can get their own research by various ways. For example questionnaires are a very good way for people to do this this can be beneficial because you get specific questioning for the topic or thing that you researching. The primary research that I will be doing is creating a questionnaire that will help me when making my news package so that I know what to do and not what to do to make it very successful and that people will watch it and also enjoy it. However the only issue with this is that people may not be as truthful with the answers on questionnaires rather than face to interviews so I will also be doing some face to face interviews therefore people may have a tougher time being untruthful because its on the spot thinking. 

Secondary Research


By doing some secondary research online I found out the most popular type of news that audiences are interested in the most and in which country. For instance in the UK the most popular type of news is National news which is the most popular therefore I could do my topic of story on a national story so it would bring a wider range of audiences in. Also I did some secondary research online which was to see what both male and female audiences have in common in relation to the type of news genres they are interested in.
